(Code of Virginia, Title 2.2. Administration of Government » Chapter 30.1. The Fraud and Abuse Whistle Blower Protection Act, § 2.2-3009 – 3014).

WBPA was established in 2009 as a way to offer protection and monetary rewards for state employees and Commonwealth citizens that report instances of fraud, abuse or other wrongdoing committed within executive branch government by state employees or state contractors, where a recovery of at least $5,000 in state funds is ultimately able to be made. Under the WBPA, a state employee or Commonwealth citizen must provide their contact information if they intend on filing a claim under the WBPA Reward Fund.
